 “Sigaram Thodu" Skilling cum Employability special Initiative by the Govt of Tamil Nadu 

Background:-

 The Government of Tamil Nadu, through the Naan Mudhalvan initiative of Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC), has launched "Sigaram Thodu" to identify and super skill the potential and aspiring students on emerging technologies/ industries, aiming to enhance employability through comprehensive skill training. 

Program Overview and objectives: 

"Sigaram Thodu" is a targeted career launch program focusing the final-year college students in the first phase who are already excelling in their fields by providing hands-on specialized training and mentorship, global certifications in emerging technologies, aptitude, communication, and interview preparedness, ultimately facilitating placement opportunities with competitive salaries. 

Target Group: - 

Final-year students from Engineering and Arts & Science institutions (2025 pass-outs). - Courses: B.E/B.Tech, B.Sc (excluding life sciences). - Branches: Computing Sciences, Emerging Technologies, and Circuit branches (life sciences excluding in this phase) - Eligibility: Consistent academic record (70%+), no backlogs, and passing an eligibility test. 

Program Details: - 

Participants: 2000 students selected through a stringent process. - Duration: Two semesters (7th & 8th for B.E/B.Tech; 5th & 6th for B.Sc), totalling 240 hours of experiential learning. - Delivery Mode: Boot Camp Model, Instructor-Led Training, use cases, capstone projects, and online assessments. Includes a 20-day residential program each semester at locations distributed across TamilNadu. 

Curriculum: - 

Technology Skills (160 hours): In-demand technologies, capstone projects, and real-world applications. - Aptitude Skills (30 hours): Quantitative, logical, and verbal reasoning. - Communication Skills (30 hours): Verbal and written communication enhancement, group discussions, presentations. - Interview Preparedness (20 hours): Mock interviews, resume building, and personal branding. 

Selection Process: - 

Application Screening: Based on academic performance and achievements. - Aptitude Test: Evaluating reasoning skills. - Technical Test: Assessing technical knowledge. - Personal Interview: Evaluating communication and problem-solving abilities. 

Placement Assistance:-

Collaboration with leading companies for placement drives, regular interaction with industry experts, mock tests, mentorship, and guidance for job applications and interviews and thereafter placements (dream and super dream offers) Expected Outcomes: Enhanced employability, improved skill sets, global certifications, successful high paid placements, and the creation of a skilled workforce contributing to the growth of the State.
